Twelve anti-nuclear groups, including some local ones, today sent a letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission asking NRC to require distinctive visual dye-markers on normal, permitted radiation emission releases.
The groups say the coloring, similar to that used in natural gas and propane odor markers, would make radiation releases easily identifiable to protect the public.
The request is one of four proposed requirements from the Bellefonte Efficiency & Sustainability Team, a chapter of the Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League.
