Taylor and Jordan

The engagement of Kera Danese Taylor and Sean Gregory Jordan is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth J. Taylor. Parents of the future bridegroom are Cassandra Webb Jordan of Nashville and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jordan of Woodbridge, Va. A summer wedding is planned at Laurelwood on Signal Mountain. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Huggins of Birmingham, Ala., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Otto Taylor Sr. Miss Taylor is a graduate of Boyd-Buchanan School. She received a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology, summa cum laude, and a master’s degree in speech and hearing science, cum laude, from Tennessee State University, where she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She is a speech-language pathologist in Annandale, Va., and is a member of New United Missionary Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Frances Webb of Nashville, the late James Oscar Webb Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Jordon. Mr. Jordan is a graduate of Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, Ga. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tennessee State University, where he was a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He is a contracting specialist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Natural Resources Conservation Service, and is a member of True Light Ministry in Woodbridge.

The engagement of Margaret Palfrey Welborn and Grayson Todd Lowery is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Miller Welborn of Lookout Mountain. Parents of the future bridegroom are the Rev. and Mrs. Todd Allen Lowery of Zachary, La. The engagement of Ranece Danielle Iglus and Anthony Jermome Brown Jr. is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Randolph Iglus and Deidra Iglus of Memphis. Tenn. Hutton Speer Baird became the bride of Joseph Alexander Ivey III in a ceremony on Saturday, June 21, at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. Dr. William E. Dudley, Dr. David D. Swanson and the Rev. Mackay Smith officiated at the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn David Baird Sr. of Signal Mountain. Parents of the bridegroom are Dr. and Mrs. Tom DesChamps of Pawleys Island, S.C. Margaret Mae Baird was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Charlotte Ivey Rivers, Mary Hollis Baird, Sara Buckingham, Karli Thode, Laura Talton, Emily Rate, Mary Holland Novkov and Bess Wallis. Isabella Francescon was the flower girl. Dr. DesChamps served as best man. Groomsmen were Thomas DesChamps, William Rivers, John Maxwell, Glenn David Baird Jr., Jack Baird, Ryan Youngerman, Matthew King and Parker Bradway. Thomas Francescon and Noah Francescon were ring bearers. A reception was held at the home of the bride. After a wedding trip to the Cayman Islands, the couple resides in Charleston, S.C.

A reception was held in the pavilion at Hunter Valley Farms. After a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Knoxville.

Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. David Merle Gleason of Houston. The future bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Spiro Macris, the late Raymond Albert Swansbrough and the late Naomi Wray Swansbrough. Miss Swansbrough is a graduate of Baylor School. She received a bachelor’s degree in education for non-teaching fields from Furman University, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She received a master’s degree in social work from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is a social worker for Chattooga County Schools in Summerville, Ga. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Donald Merle Gleason of Houston, the late Shirley Ann Gleason and the late Mr. and Mrs. William James Lennox. Dr. Gleason is a graduate of Klein High School in Spring, Texas. He received a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology from Vanderbilt University and a doctor of medicine from Texas Tech School of Medicine. He served a residency in general pediatrics at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. He received a master’s degree in public health from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he also held a fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology. Dr. Gleason is a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston and is a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Mr. Bacon received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is employed as an IT security engineer and architect with Transmontaigne in Denver. He is past president of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the UT Alumni in Denver and is an active musician.

Simpson and Sy

Meredith Cody Simpson became the bride of Bryan Matthew Sy in a ceremony held on Saturday, April 26, at 4 p.m. at DeBarge Vineyards in LaFayette, Ga. The bride is the daughter of William and Becky Simpson of Sale Creek. The bridegroom is the son of Debbie Sy of Clinton, Tenn., and Ron and LaDonna Sy of Oak Ridge. The Rev. Morty Lloyd performed the ceremony. Chris Sy, brother of the bridegroom, provided wedding music. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a fitted, ivory, silk organza gown that flared into a sweeping train. The bodice, designed with a sweetheart neckline, was embellished with seed pearls. She carried a bouquet featuring a variety of roses mixed with freesia, succulents, peonies, brunia berries and seeded eucalyptus. Kristina Spaid and Megan Simpson were the bride’s honor attendants. Laura Zaichkin served as a bridesmaid. They wore coral silk dupioni dresses in varying styles. Brian Jasnoch acted as best man. Groomsmen were Adam Alexander and Justin Goss. William Simpson, brother of the bride, was the lay reader. A dinner reception was held at the vineyards followed by dancing and cocktails. Guests were seated at tables with place settings of antique china and floral centerpieces in vintage milk glass containers. The menu included pancetta-wrapped grilled shrimp, lasagna cupcakes, venison sausage, beef tenderloin, seared halibut and a vegetable succotash. The four-tier, winter-white wedding cake was decorated in a vintage design that incorporated edible pearls, lace and coral peonies. The groom’s marble cake was a Yeti cooler replica displayed alongside edible items made of cake that included Ariat boots, specialty beer bottles, BF Goodrich tires and a Tennessee baseball cap. After a wedding trip to Antigua, the couple resides in McKinney, Texas.

She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Birmingham-Southern College and a doctor of medicine from the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center-College of Medicine. She did her pediatric residency at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. She is a pediatrician and is a member of Calvary Chapel. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Perry and the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schulenborg. Dr. Schulenborg is a graduate of Houston High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a doctor of medicine from the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center-College of of Medicine. He served a residency at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and fellowship training in pediatric sports medicine with Orlando Health at Arnold Palmer Hospital. He is a pediatric sports medicine physician.

Paul Longmire performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Elaine Forrester of Nashville and J. Stephen Forrester. Parents of the bridegroom are Connie and Steve Bowman. Diana Conner was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Tyler Banks, Jennifer Crawford, Lindsay Lofty and Ashley Murray. Josh Conner served as best man. Groomsmen were Matthew Pace, Andrew Crawford, Kyle Lofty and Gary Murray. Cooper Crawford was ring bearer. A reception was held at Lindsay Street Hall. After a wedding trip to Disneyland, Disney’s Aulani resort in Hawaii and Walt Disney World, the couple will reside in this city.
