Democrats – The Party of No

We want lower taxes so we can keep more of the money we earn. The Democrats say NO! We want war criminals prosecuted as war criminals. The Democrats say NO! We want real reform in health care – such as competition across state lines, low-cost high-deductible insurance options, and tax-exempt health-savings accounts. The Democrats say NO! Doctors want to be able to see their patients without paying $200,000 -$500,000 in medical malpractice insurance premiums. The Democrates say NO! We want our voices heard in Washington without being called obscene names. The Democrats say NO!

May 29, 2012 at 6:08 a.m.

Clay, I agree. The same could be said for those upstart 18th century North American colonists from England. The constitution they came up with is SO, SO negative. Who did they think they were – challenging unjust laws and corrupt political leadership? You read it and it’s like they were OBSESSED with the fairy tale idea that governments or political leaders are prone to abuse their power or amass too much of it and that their powers should therefore be curtailed. In the Constitution, a fairly short document, they use “no” or “not” nearly fifty times. The Bill of Rights and the other Constitutional Amendments are just as bad, using those negative words about the same number of times.

The notion of trying to impose their values of limited government on a new republic is the height of arrogance. Those values were, no doubt, grounded in some religious teaching that kings were not gods and had no right to impose absolute or arbitrary power on the citizens.

And Bulbs, have you read the Declaration of Independence? I mean, the whole document is full of “decry” this and “lambast” that. It’s a virtual LIST of grievances against political leaders and unjust legislation. They even drop the “G” bomb in the first line and refer to a “Creator” in the second. The nerve. You go, Clay. Bringing history to light one cartoon at a time.

Democrats are the real party of "no".

We want to know what is going on in Congress as legislation is being hammered out. The Democrats say NO! We want our representatives to read and understand legislation before they vote on it. The Democrats say NO! We want our government to help democracies around the world and punish dictators who violate basic human rights of their citizens. The Democrats say NO! We want the freedom to own and use guns as we see fit, as protected by the Second Amendment to the Constitution. The Democrats say NO! We want the permanent elimination of death taxes so that family farms and businesses can stay in the family generation after generation. The Democrats say NO! We want a fiscally responsible Social Security system so we can remain confident that we won’t starve or freeze to death when we get old. The Democrats say NO! We want a pro-business government that wholeheartedly supports free-market capitalism. The Democrats say NO!

The Democrats say NO! We want our government to listen to the voters. When we say yes, the government should say yes, when we say no, the government should say no. The Democrats say NO!

Democrats Party of No They say no to deficit and debt reduction. No to bringing sanity to public-employee costs. And Hell No to voters who want smaller, less-expensive government.

And then there’s President Obama’s budget, which was defeated 97 to 0 in the Senate.  Not one single senator voted for the President’s budget—not even avowed Socialist Bernie Sanders, because the proposal was considered “stale.”

There has not been a budget passed the whole time Hussein Obama has been in the White House because the liberal, socialist, dummycrats have always said "no" to a budget to avoid spending constraints.

You should be very happy Hussein Obama is destroying the US Constitution. Please do not be a hypocrite by taking of work on the 4th of July. Although the 4th of July is not a celebration of the US Constitution, it is a celebration of our independence from England and escaping being under a dictatorship which is apparently what you and the rest of the supporters of your King Hussein Obama want to return to. Be happy, you are getting exactly what you want with King Hussein Obama.

How do you explain Warren Buffet who supports higher taxes on the wealthy but continues to use every tax loop hole to not pay taxs? How do you feel about Tom Daschle, Tim Geitner, and Charlie Rangel cheating on their taxes and were not held accountable by the likes of you? How do you feel about Obama being the largest recipient of Wall Street campaign contributions, 10 million dollars, than any president ever? By the way Wall Street makes their money off the increases in corporate profits of which Geithner and Obama appear to be greatly benefiting from. How do you explain the greed associated with the Unions taking in billion of dollars of taxpayer money given to them by Hussein Obama and Union dues that only benefit the millionaire Union bosses? You are a liar or just plain blind and stupid.

Haven't seen one of these dim-witted conservatives offer a positive defense of George Bush or the GOP trickle down economic scam.

My late father, a life long republican, gave me sage investment advice. He said when a democrat is in the White House, invest in the stock market. When a republican is in the WH, invest in gold.

Consvervatives can't defend their own policy of offerning nothing but tax cuts for the rich.

Obama gave us the biggest middle class tax cut in history.

Instead of you guys saying, 'Yeah, but....', just provide some examples of how supply side / trickle down tax policy that benefit primarily the wealthiest has ever balanced the federal budget or increased employment.

It's a very simply request.

Don't go negative, go positive. We are all eager to see the error of our ways.

Yes, the opponents of President Obama have been negative. Very negative if the tactics of lying and misinformation is considered to be negative. Now all of a sudden Romney says that they have not been truthful.
You never know what is going to happen, the Media is now accusing the Democratic Party of going too negative by speaking up against the Republicans' "lying." Does this admission, by Romney of the truth (which the facts will back up) about what the opponents of President Obama have been lying about in trying to convince the voters that everything Obama has done since in the Office has been wrong, change the opponents' objectives of causing President Obama's failure? How can they "overcome" the admission to all of the lying and misinformation "tactics" they have been "throwing out" to see what will "stick to the wall" for discouraging the people to vote and dividing the voters?

LOL Of The Week: Mitt Romney Accidentally Speaks The Truth!

Last Wednesday, Mitt utter something so startling that he was completely ignored by the right wing media, which must have sensed that this outburst could colllapse his candidacy and the Republican Party platform. If the tri-corner hat-wearing Medicare recipients in the Tea Party indeed heard his heretical remarks, their failure to rise up in fury just proves how completely hollow their movement is.

In a single sentence, Mitt admitted that everything the GOP has been saying about the economy since 2009 is a lie. Asked why he wouldn't cut spending immediately, the presumptive nominee said: “Well, because if you take a trillion dollars, for instance, out of the first year of the federal budget, that would shrink GDP over five percent.”

May 29, 2012 at 11:18 a.m.

whats_wrong_with_the_world, you know what the Declaration starts with? A positive statement and an explanation that they are required to make. And one key difference? It's not simply haranguing of the King, but substantive grievances. They are also not full of lies and deceptions, as the Republican party has often offered. Like their continued false claims of Obama not being American. You may excuse Mitt Romney by saying he hasn't done that, but you know who he's associated with lately? Donald Trump.

Your argument isn't as good as you think. It's accomplishing the opposite result. Republicans love cloaking themselves in the robes of the Founding Fathers. You know what that tells me? That they're trying to disguise themselves with an appeal to emotion. The Founding Fathers are dead, they are not here to speak, and trying to co-opt them is offensive. It's simple grandstanding and demagoguery. Anybody can wrap themselves in the trappings of ideals, but actually living up to them?

That's another story.

Besides, your representation of the Constitution being a document of "no's" and "not's" is off-base.

Let's try a few of them.

No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years,

and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

and excluding Indians not taxed,

The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand

(This one is void, BTW, now, since the number is far in excessive of that)

More of the others are of similar nature. You know what those words are lacking? Any particular quality of hate, denial, and oppression. The same cannot be said of the Republican party. That's the problem. Not a simple "negative" in the sense of being no, or not true, but "negativity" in the sense of being pessimistic and contrary.

Take for example, the Health Care Mandate. This was a Republican idea. They argued long and hard for it once. Now? Now they're against it. Take Solyndra, using a loan program that was instituted under Bush, and that was part of a bill sponsored by Republicans. Now they're against it. Take the Automotive Industry. Bailouts for banks were ok, but putting the auto companies through a managed bankruptcy process...was not, oh wait, except when Mitt Romney gets credit for it.

That's the notion being expressed. Whatever Obama, or Democrats are for, they're against. It has nothing to do with what you proclaim the Constitution and Declaration of Independence to be full of, and your attempts to clad it in a false patriotism is a shameful exploitation of passions.

Strange for a party that also proclaims itself big on logic and reason.

Oh, and BTW, the religious teaching of the time was that Kings DID have a divine right to rule.

Also, Joneses's unthinking reaction to your post is telling. It's a true measure of the Republican Negativity. Attack first.

The earth is 5 billion years old, was AL Gore around then to take the temperature of the planet? 100 years is a tiny amount of time to deduce what "normal" weather even is!

Another liberal moron! Every time you turn on a light switch you make a hypocrite of yourselves!

Wrong again. Less than half is obtain by burning coal (44.5%). Natural Gas: 23.3%, Nuclear: 20.2%, Hydro: 6.8% and Non-hydro renewable: 3.6%.

And yes, electricity is a very clean energy. Especially when we invest in new ways to get it, like through solar power, windmills, geothermal, biomass, etc. Which I'm sure you would be against.

How does that make me a hypocrite? I can't turn a light on because global warming is real? I never said I was going to stop using electricity or driving my car. I was explaining to you that global warming is not a hoax. However, I do recycle. And I do use natural gas.

Another conservative dimwit.

51% is a majority amigo. All the other cleaner sources of electricity add up to more (53.4%) than that of coal and oil (46.6%).

No, you were not right. It's like talking to a brick wall. You prove my point again. I was right, not wrong. :-) And watch your language.

In the ene, Clay gives Republicans too much credit.....In the national arena and on this forum, I've seen very few take anything but a negative approach. I don't think this is a question they would even think to ask.

Not one of you dim-witted conservatives could muster even a feeble defense of trickle down / supply side tax policies.

In the broader context it is inconceivable why any republican should ever again be elected to public office. EVER.

GOP tax policy: more money for the rich. GOP foreign policy: more money for defense contractors. GOP economic policy: more money for corporations.

GOP legacy: incomprehensible national debt.

Please complete this sentence: Voters shoul elect republican candidates because...

Jack_Dennis, do you subscribe to the "Why offer constructive reasoning in reply" when you can just attack people on a petty issue of verbiage.

Wow, thanks for proving why the GOP is the party of Negativity.

TOES02800, it's the style of cartooning he uses. Mickey Mouse, Bart Simpson, Bugs Bunny, Fred Flintstone, Jon Arbuckle, and many others, all done with that style.

Also, my house has been around for many decades. It could burn down in an hour if I didn't take care of it. And local power around here is from Nuclear and Hydro-electric sources, and we can pay a bit more to get Green-power explicitly. Some of us have chosen to do so, and have even shown up at TVA meetings asking them to retire their coal plants since the eighties.

The word you were looking for was plurality, BTW, not majority.

PS, 91-year old veteran's voter registration was questioned in Florida.

Thanks Rick Scott. Thanks. I feel so safe knowing that World War II veterans will be kept from the ballot box this year, after voting for the past six or more decades.

How can you libtards say Republicans are negative when you do not even talk about any of Hussein Obama's successes? it is because Hussein Obama has no successes. Why does Hussein Obama not run on his record? Why is Hussein Obama not promoting his passing of the government take over of the health care industry? Why is Hussein Obama not running on the 6 trillion dollars he has added to the debt? I know why you libtard socialist will not tout these failures because Hussein Obama's whole agenda of socialism has been a failure.

We haven't elected a free market Republican in a long time - just a long parade of RINO's. Bush, Bush, and Reagan cowered to Democrats on taxes and spending early on. The only democrat to move in the direction of free markets was Clinton (when forced to). Free markets ("trickle down economics") hasn't been tried and found wanting. It hasn't been sufficiently tried. Saying "no" to tyranny is a candidate's primary qualification.

90% of our electricity is generated by coal, nuclear and natural gas!

Where is all of your solar and wind power at?

Wind turbines kill more birds than anything! The manufacture of solar panels uses toxins much more hazardous than oil OR coal!

Coal and oil: 45.6%. These are the dirtiest of energy sources. And they account for less than half of our country's electric energy.

Natural gas: 23.3%. Releases less than HALF of the emissions of burning coal.

Nuclear: 20.2%. NO EMISSIONS.

Hydro: 6.8%. NO EMISSIONS.

Non-hydro renewable: 3.6%. NO EMISSIONS.

No one said anything about how they make the devices. Once again, you aren't seeing the big picture here. Global warming is real. We need to lower our dependance on coal and oil and increase clean sources of energy like wind, solar, nuclear, etc. But I guess you aren't worried about our dying planet Keep being oblivious. I'll try to pick up your slack if that makes you feel better.

moonpie.....What you described as parenting comes later. In the beginning of a child's life things are more simple. NO is a way to teach survival. Yes is to reward. You lefties are say a 3 year old and to them NO is a very important thing to say.

The problems with you lefties is that you have said YES too much. YES to global warming, higher taxes, government health care, excessive environmental regulations, etc. etc. You are a spoiled child that now throws a fit when you don't get your way.

Easy123.....You are using dated material on global warming. Also, there is a consensus of those scientists on the government dole. Independent scientists have shot holes through this bunk.

In a short time this will go the way of the "hole in the ozone layer." It was nice to talk about but never happened.

WWWTHW whined, "blackwater48 said... Defend my straw man! Defend my straw man!"

No, I just asked for any example of trickle down economics, the tax policy of Reagan, Bush I and Bush II, ever coming close to what was promised. Conservatives claimed (and still do) that if we cut taxes on the rich and increase military spending then the federal budget will be balanced and the bounty would trickle down to the rest of us huddled masses.

How'd that work out fer ya?

Your lame reply, straight out of the GOP playbook, was that 'supply side' wasn't given a fair chance, wasn't fully implemented, and wasn't fully allowed to blossom.

Most dim-wits quit pounding themselves in the head with a hammer, eventually.

Not republicans. Romney wants to cut the upper tax brackets even more and increase defense spending.

Like I said earlier, I cannot see why any voter would ever cast a ballot for any republican candidate for any public office.

But I'll give you partial credit, world, for at least giving it a half-hearted try.

what is debatable is the cause!

as far as solor goes, covering every sq.inch of the nation w/solar panels and windmills ain't gonna work!

Easy123....You quoted all liberal sources. They don't mean a thing to me. They all have a political ax to grind.

I have an advanced degree in Chemistry and have been analyzing data for 35 years. The data for global climate change happening at all, never mind the cause, is inconclusive. Not only that, common sense would tell you that the earth is a huge system and if global warming were happening it couldn't be changed by a couple of years of humans in the Western countries lowering carbon emissions a little bit. All the while China, Russia and the third world keep pumping the carbon in the atmosphere. If the global warming snowball is rolling down the hill, there is nothing we could do about it now but buy some ocean front property in Asheville, NC.

When Mt. St. Helen erupted it put more green house gases in the atmosphere than humans have in 1 million years. It changed the weather for 3 years. Remember the eruptions in Iceland that disrupted air traffic. Hundreds of volcanoes erupt every year. Do you actually think that we humans have any effect whatsoever?

The most ignorant people I know use politicized information from questionable sources and assume they are fact. Ignorance abounds in liberal land. You guys look even more stupid when you try to look smart. Do you ever see the movie, "Idiocracy?" They were all good little liberals.

You quoted NO sources. NASA has a political ax to grind?

How do you get an "advanced" degree? Do you mean a master's or a doctorate? What data? Because all the data points to global warming.

Humans haven't been around for a million years. Anatomically modern humans originated in Africa about 200,000 years ago, reaching full behavioral modernity around 50,000 years ago. The Industrial Revolution didn't start until the mid-1700's. That's when humans started sending huge amounts of emissions into the atmosphere.

Just to clarify, 50-60 volcanoes erupt each year. Not hundreds. And yes, humans have affected the environment. Have you ever heard of "smog"?

The most ignorant people make up their own information and accept it as truth. You have no sources other than yourself. You assume the things you make up are fact. Ignorance abounds in conservative land. You guys look even more stupid when you try to look smart.
