The woman who has been chief curator at the Hunter Museum of American Art for the past 25 years is leaving.
Ellen Simak will retire this year.
"I hope through my work here that I have contributed to the vibrant Chattanooga arts community; I know I have been enriched by the experience." Simak said in a news release.
Since coming to the Hunter in August 1988, she has curated 33 exhibitions and a number of permanent acquisitions for the museum.
"Ellen is a talented and dedicated curator and it has been an honor and a privilege to work with her,” Hunter Museum Executive Director Daniel Stetson said in the release. "Her efforts and achievements have made a lasting mark on the Hunter Museum and on Chattanooga."
