We're going to try to go fast today, and please remember Friday's mailbag — we got spots open. You ask, we'll answer, no big whoop.

Proving that no one seems content to live in the precious present these days, ESPN released something called its College Football Future Power Rankings on Tuesday.

We're going to go fast today — to paraphrase our man Eazy E, let's go all quick, our style as a juvenile, ran with a gang, slang in the meanwhile.

Monday night's Best of Preps banquet was not the first time former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones played to a packed house in the Scenic City.

We are going to move quickly all week. Lots of moving pieces right now.

Assuming some Disney executive would have deemed it believable, it had the makings of the best sports movie ever.

To those who know them only through our state's sports pages, Russ Huesman and Butch Jones are the football coaches at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Tennessee, respectively.

Most of them were up much earlier than summer vacation should require.

Gang, it's been an excellent week that has been filled with high-quality conversations. Take a bow.

Always looking for ways to make our Best of Preps banquet better and to ensure we credit the people who deserve recognition, our sports staff expanded the number of awards to be given this year.

We have a soft spot for a slew sports-related things.

For those of us old enough to remember Green Bay thrashing Kansas City 35-10 in the first Super Bowl, ESPN recently naming then-Packers coach Vince Lombardi as the greatest NFL coach in history was a foregone conclusion.

Too much to get to today to waste time with small talk and introductions.

ATHENS, Tenn. — Having won three BCS national championships in the last four years, Alabama football coach Nick Saban is generally regarded as the sport's brightest mind these days.

OK, we're off and running into June. We're staring at the U.S. Open, and hold on to your hats, but we're something like eight weeks from the start of high school football in Tennessee.
