SARASOTA, Fla. Robert Charles Turner, formerly of Chattanooga, died on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.He has joined his wife of 53 years, Lillian Murray, who predeceased him in 1996. Robert was born in Henry, Ill., and was a WWII veteran, serving his country as a Paratrooper in the 513th and 11th Airborne. He received the Purple Heart and was in Africa, the Philippines and Japan.Robert is survived by his sister, Mary; his children, Guy Robert (Mary Anna), Lawrence Murray (Karen), and Joy Mary; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.He retired to Sarasota from an executive position at Lovemans Department Store. He will be remembered for a good and honorable life and his commitment to the causes of the Elks, the Eagles, the VFW, the American Legion, the Catholic Church and other organizations.
