Amy Phillips is a rider on Chattanooga’s Hub Endurance Women’s Cycling team that will be competing in this weekend’s Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road & Time Trial National Championships. Amy has only been riding for three years and she will be one of only a handful of local riders.

USA Cycling events kickoff in Chattanooga today
Thousands of spectators are expected for this weekend's cycling events, including the time trials at the Volkswagen plant Saturday and the road race throughout downtown Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain on Monday. The races will showcase some of the best American cyclists in the world, according to USA Cycling president Steve Johnson.

Lake Winnie water park opens Monday
Lake Winnepesaukah will open their new five-acre water park, called SoakYa on Monday. The park will feature four large water slides, as well as a lazy river and kids play area. Both the "dry" park and water park will have a combined admission price of $31.95.

Hundreds attended the 149th anniversary of the Battle of Resaca
Some 600 soldiers and hundreds of spectators took part in the 149th anniversary of the Battle of Resaca in Resaca, Ga., on Saturday. The event gave attendees the opportunity to connect with history and see a Civil War era camp, as well as a battle re-enactment with rifles, sabers and cannon blasts.
