In order to prevent a landslide the Alabama Department of Transportation has hired a company called Soil Nail Launcher from Grand Junction, Colo., to drill nearly 37,000 linear feet of nails into Lookout Mountain along state Highway 35, near Fort Payne. The project, which closes one lane, will be completed in early 2013.
