Siskin Hospital picks Carol Sim as CEO

Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation has hired its second CEO in its 25-year history.

The hospital said Wednesday that has tapped Massachusetts hospital executive Carol Sim to be its new president and CEO.

Sim will take the helm of the hospital in February, when longtime CEO Bob Main retires.

Sim, a registered nurse, brings more than 30 years of health care experience, including 11 years as a CEO at rehabilitation hospitals, Siskin officials said.

Siskin's board of directors unanimously approved Sim for the post.

"After conducting a nationwide search, we are excited to have secured an individual the caliber of Carol Sim. She has a proven track record in hospital and health system executive management with a passion for rehabilitation and the patients served," said Bob Best, chairman of Siskin Hospital's board of directors.

The search for a new CEO began in April when Main announced his intention to retire after leading the hospital from its inception in the late 1980s.

Main said he will assist with the transition.

"Carol is an excellent choice to continue the mission and culture of Siskin Hospital and to build on our reputation for excellence on a local, regional, and national level," Main said in a news release, citing her "character, enthusiasm for rehabilitation, and her proven success record."

Sim recently served as president and CEO of the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands, a member of the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network in Boston. Her experience also includes CEO of a rehabilitation hospital in Florida, as well as a home health organization in Connecticut. For 16 years she was employed in a variety of clinical and management roles at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Sim holds a bachelor's degree in nursing, as well as a master's of public health in health policy and management, both from Columbia University.
