Barringer and Kranz

The engagement of Amanda Carroll Barringer and Kevin Michael Kranz is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of David and Angela Bain of Pisgah, Ala., and Greg and Cynthia Barringer of Flat Rock, Ala. Parents of the future bridegroom are Thomas and Laura Kranz. The wedding is planned for Friday, Dec. 19, at The Chattanoogan hotel. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Dan and Elaine Slater and James H. and Rita Buckner, all of Flat Rock, and the late J.E. and Martha Barringer. Miss Barringer graduated from Pisgah High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Auburn University. She is a talent acquisition consultant with Emory Healthcare. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Lowell Ybos of New Orleans, the late Carol Ybos and the late Edward and Joyce Kranz. Mr. Kranz graduated from Niceville High School and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from Florida State University. He is a senior financial analyst with McKenney’s Inc.

Smith and Schwind

Kelli Michelle Smith became the bride of David Ashley Schwind in a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Canyon Ridge on Lookout Mountain. Jake Thal performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Jan Smith and B.R. Smith. Parents of the bridegroom are Debi and Craig Davoulas. Callie Williams was the bride’s honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Erin Tillery, Shelly Killian, Ellen Puffer, Noel Reagan and Rebecca Stein. Laney Henry was the flower girl. Doug Wheelock and Nate Card served as best men. Groomsmen were Nathan Deledda, Micheal Jeze’ski, Jason Mannion and Drew Batkin. A reception was held at Terra Mae. The couple plans to take a wedding trip to Costa Rica at Christmas. They reside in Lookout Mountain, Ga.

Robinson and Magruder

The engagement of Virginia Ruth Robinson and Jeffrey Scott Magruder is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert William Robinson of Signal Mountain. Parents of the future bridegroom are Linda Lorrain Goodwin of Gulfport, Miss., and the late John Frank Magruder. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Dec. 13, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church on Signal Mountain, where the future bride is a member. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Freeman and the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel F. Robinson. Miss Robinson is a graduate of Baylor School. She received a bachelor’s degree in international business from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a doctorate of jurisprudence from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. She was presented in the 2001 Cotton Ball. She is an attorney with the City of Clarksville, Tenn. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Newton Dekalb Goodwin and the late Edmund Henry Magruder. Mr. Magruder received a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi. He was a captain in the United States Army, serving as a Ranger in the 101st Airborne Division, and served two tours of duty in Iraq. He is a category specialist with the Central Procurement Office of the state of Tennessee, and is a member of Grace Community Church.

The bride is the daughter of Harvey and Lula Pearman of Signal Mountain. Parents of the bridegroom are Cary and Amy Gibson of Signal Mountain and Stanley and Karen Phillips of Chattanooga. Ashley Nicole Jones was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Cortney Elaine Anderton, Alexandra Claire Porter, Alexia Mena Loughman, Hailey Sparks Green, Krista Grey Osment, Stevie Nicole Phillips and Jeramie Beth Phillips. Haiden Elizabeth Sparks was the flower girl. Stanley Reese Phillips served as best man. Groomsmen were John Michael Connor III, Christopher Brent Dana, Matthew Tyler Nausley, Joseph Bott Thomas, Stuart Randall Vinson and Christopher Douglas Wright. Nicholas Chadwick Gibson was ring bearer. Nick Gallis was the Orthodox sponsor. A reception was held at Lindsay Street Hall. After a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Nashville.

Miss Hoelke received a bachelor’s degree in religious studies and master’s of divinity in religion from Gardner-Webb University. She is an enrollment specialist in graduate admissions and an adjunct instructor at Gardner-Webb University. She is a member of Broad River Community Church in Boiling Springs, N.C. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Jeanne Miller of Sarasota, Fla., and Bobbie Simpson of Shelby. Mr. Simpson received a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in sports science and pedagogy from Gardner-Webb University. He is head swim coach of Sharks Aquatic Club in Shelby and is a member of Broad River Community Church in Boiling Springs.

Sharp and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Lloyd Stanley. Dr. Stanley is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and was Phi Beta Kappa. She received a doctor of veterinary medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She was presented in the 1995 Cotton Ball. She is a veterinarian at the Chattanooga Veterinary Center and a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hulin Grant and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Baker. Mr. Grant is a graduate of McCallie School. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from UTK, where he was a member of LXA fraternity,. He received his juris doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in Lansing, Mich. He is an attorney at Grant, Konvalinka and Harrison.

Miss Lyness is a graduate of Red Bank High School. She received a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in secondary education English from Tennessee Wesleyan College, where she was on the women’s basketball team for four years. She is an English teacher and girls’ head basketball coach at Red Bank High School. Mr. McGinnis is a graduate of Red Bank High School. He is operations manager at ATC and vice-president of L.K. Grant Co. He serves on the Chattanooga Board of Plumbing Examiners, the Scenic City Football League Board and is president of Red Bank Dixie Youth.

He is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church on Signal Mountain and is a senior computer engineer at Qualcomm in Boulder.
