She received a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Lipscomb University and is pursuing a degree in physical therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a member of The Church at BrookHills in Birmingham. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Glenn Carlson of Elburn, Ill., the late Alice Carlson and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmidt of Georgetown, Ky. He has enlisted with the U.S. Navy.
