The engagement of Rebecca Lynn McPherson and Alex Jenson Ford is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. James McPherson. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. David Bley of Ringgold, Ga., and Sarah Faulkner and the late Joseph Allen Ford Jr. The wedding is planned for Friday, Dec. 17, at Christ United Methodist Church, where both are members. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rollison Sr. of Seneca, S.C., Maggie McPherson of McMinnville, Tenn., and the late James McPherson. Miss McPherson is a graduate of Ooltewah High School. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Cheatwood of Cedartown, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ford Sr. Mr. Ford is a graduate of Ooltewah High School. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music from UTC. He is a musician.

The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Gerald Dean Gentry of Poplar Grove, Ark., the late Mr. Gentry, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy Leslie Turner. Mr. Turner graduated from Barton High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in taxation from Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He received a law degree from the University of Arkansas. He is a member of Lexa Baptist Church and is an administrator at Mississippi State University.
