Engagement

Cofer and Faust

The engagement of Caroline Elizabeth Cofer and Hugh Davidson Faust is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Thomas and Cynthia Cofer. Parents of the future bridegroom are Edgar and Lynn Faust of Knoxville. The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 1, at the Little Brown Church on Signal Mountain, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Neil Cofer, the late Betty Jo Cofer, Rita Hames and the late Allen Hames. Miss Cofer received a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority. She received a doctor of veterinary medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a veterinarian. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Elizabeth Frierson of Knoxville, the late Laurance Frierson and the late Emily and Hugh Faust. Mr. Faust received a bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries biology and management, entomology, from the University of Wyoming, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He is a wildlife biologist, and is a member of Marietta Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Engagement

Sprouse and Grubbs

The engagement of Rebekka O’Grady Sprouse and Nathaniel George Grubbs is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Catherine O. Sprouse of Mechanicsville, Va., and the late Louis A. Sprouse Jr. Parents of the future bridegroom are Shelby and Lynne Grubbs. The wedding will be in May at Clifftops in Monteagle, Tenn. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jane O. Tiller of Powhatan, Va., the late Edward L. O’Grady and the late Bernice and Louis Sprouse Sr. Miss Sprouse received a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s degree and and Ph.D in biochemistry from the University of Virginia. She did postdoctoral research at Cornell University. She is a biomedical scientist and a college professor. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Jean V. Dodge of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, the late George A. Dodge and the late Russell and Mary Grubbs. Mr. Grubbs is a graduate of Baylor School. He received a bachelor’s degree in geology from Colby College and a master’s degree in pharmacology from the University of Virginia. He will graduate in May with a medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. His residencies will be in Spokane, Wash., and Denver.

Torrance and Vacek

The engagement of Jennifer Lynn Torrance and Timothy Richard Vacek is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Douglas James Torrance and Tina Torrance. The future bridegroom is the son of Gwen Vacek of Plano, Texas, and the late Richard Vacek Jr. The wedding is planned for Friday, April 26, at Webb Mountain in Cosby, Tenn. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late James and Mary Jane Torrance and Patricia Boone of Flintstone, Ga. Miss Torrance is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School. She received a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in English education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is a teacher at Fulton High School in Knoxville. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Oscar and Irene Hahn and the late Richard and Claudia Vacek. Mr. Vacek is a graduate of Franklin Road Academy in Nashville. He received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in English education from UTK. He is a teacher at Bearden High School in Knoxville.

Wedding

Gross and Queen

Virginia Preston Gross became the bride of John Wesley Queen III in a ceremony on Saturday, March 16, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, Ala. The Rev. Claude McRoberts performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas Gross of Montgomery. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Queen Jr. Mary Gross Evans was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Calley Crews, Patricia Graham, Kim Gross, Lucy Israel, Sarah Potter, Cary Queen, Amanda Sokol, Gena Villari and Eliza Wolff. Riley Claire Warren was the flower girl. Mr. Queen served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Matt Bond, John Andrew Bishop, Addam Evans, Mitch Groothuis, Thomas Gross, Townes Johnson, Foster McKissick, Jeff Parrish and Lash Springs. Charles Thomas Gross III was ring bearer. A reception was held at The Conservatory at Wynfield in Montgomery. After a wedding trip to Mexico, the couple resides in Greenville, S.C.
