The engagement of Cheryl Leigh Cox and Sterling Richard McAfee is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Robert Cox of Chattanooga and Cheryl Cox of Signal Mountain. Parents of the future bridegroom are Richard McAfee of Cleveland, Tenn., and Jean Ann McAfee of Chattanooga. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at The Grandview on Lookout Mountain. The bride-elect received a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Covenant College. She is a voluntary benefits specialist at Unum. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Richard McAfee and Ross and Betty Moseley. Mr. McAfee received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a web developer at EPB.
Scruggs and Young
Alex Scruggs became the bride of Gerald Thomas Young in a ceremony on Saturday, May 18, at The Mill at Lebanon in Lebanon, Tenn. The Rev. Garry McGowan performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Steve and Angie Scruggs of Nashville. Parents of the bridegroom are Tom and Pat Young of Cincinnati. Krissy Scruggs was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kylie Scruggs, Sara Young, Che’Ara Dykes, Katie Erwin, Grace Gilmore, Stefine Pease House, Ann Mullins and Erin Pierce. Chelsie Snyder and Gillian Snyder were the flower girls. Mr. Young served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Jordan Baron, Trey Morrison, Daniel Peck, Justin Sanders, Elliot Snyder, Charles Williams and Drew Wurzelbacher. Trevor Snyder was ring bearer and Blake Snyder was an usher. A reception was held at The Mill at Lebanon. After a wedding trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple resides in Nashville.

The bride is the daughter of Kenneth Irving Peck of Kennesaw, Ga., and the late Sheryl Dean Peck. Dr. Chuck Roberts performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Henegar Campbell IV of Lookout Mountain. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. William Kennedy Griffin III of Jackson, Miss. Caroline Upchurch Campbell, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Leigh Griffin Connor, Anna Christilles Moak, Anne Corbett Roberts, Emily Holland Wilkins, Jennifer Stanley Gladstone, Jessica Marie Harris, Kelsey Powell Griffin, Laura Lampton Deakins, Lucy McLaurin King, Madeline Garvin George, Sara Wimberley Brock and Virginia Graham Manning. McGuffee and Haverly
The engagement of Tiffany Danielle McGuffee and Jordan Michael Haverly is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of David McGuffee of Sale Creek and Donna Owenby of Bozeman, Mont. Parents of the future bridegroom are Kevin and Melissa Border of Everett, Pa. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at the National Republican Club in Washington, D.C. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Charlotte and George Blake of Sale Creek and the late Holman and Nona Watson. Miss McGuffee received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She is pursuing a master’s degree in strategic communication from American University in Washington. She serves as communications director for Rep. Phil Roe, M.D., R-Tenn. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Harry and Nancy Swartzwelder of Everett. Mr. Haverly received a bachelor’s degree in political science from American University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He serves as digital director for the House Financial Services Committee on Capitol Hill.

The engagement of Kayla Elizabeth Flippo and Justin Dwayne Morgan is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Lisa Denton of Soddy-Daisy and Gary and Jan Flippo of Cleveland, Tenn. Parents of the future bridegroom are Phyllis and Rick Shelton of Harrison and Eddie and Jan Morgan of Evensville, Tenn. The wedding is planned for Saturday, March 15, at The Fillauer Lake House in Cleveland. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Bell, the late Leon Bell and the late Bill and Doris Flippo. Miss Flippo is a gallery educator at the Tennessee Aquarium and is a member of Sale Creek United Methodist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Lamar and Joyce McCarty of Decatur, Tenn., and the late Virginia “Joby” and Paul Morgan. Mr. Morgan is a team leader at Volkswagen.
