Roberts and Apyan
Kim Roberts became the bride of Alex Apyan during a ceremony held on Saturday, June 28, in Drees Pavilion in Covington, Ky. The Rev. Marvin Schooler officiated. The bride is the daughter of Roger and Lori Roberts of Wintersville, Ohio. Parents of the bridegroom are Dr. Paul and Laura Apyan of Hixson. The bride walked down the aisle to a classical guitar arrangement of Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years.” She wore a lace mermaid gown designed with fitted bodice featuring a sweetheart neckline embellished in rhinestones and sequins that flowed into a tiered, ruffled hemline with train. Shaleeta Smith and Haley Cook were the bride’s honor attendants. Bridesmaids were Windai Tolbert, Kayla Grimm, Amanda Hege, Brooklynn Miller, Leah Apyan and Emily Apyan. Nora Dib and Madison Taylor were flower girls. The bridesmaids were attired in long, charcoal gray, chiffon dresses featuring deep V-backs edged in ruffles. Dr. Apyan acted as best man for his son. Groomsmen were Brett George, Robert Armstrong, T.J. Franklin, Drew Frey, Derek Miller, Kyle Cothran and R.J. Roberts. Ring bearers were Rami Dib, Joseph Taylor and Michael Peckham. A dinner reception was held in the pavilion following the ceremony, with its view overlooking the Cincinnati skyline. Following cocktails, guests were seated at tables covered in ivory linen with floral centerpieces of varying heights. Each place setting included a personal thank-you from the newlyweds. Dinner included salad, a cheese coney bar, pasta bar, meat-carving station and candy/ cookie bar. The two-tiered wedding cake, prepared by the bride’s cousin Elizabeth Peckham, featured an ombre grey-into-yellow icing effect. The bridegroom’s cookie cake was decorated with NASA and University of Cincinnati Bearcat logos, representing where the couple met when he was a football player and she was a cheerleader. After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple reside in Houston.
Matheny and Smith
Brittany Leigh Matheny became the bride of Clayton Grant Smith in a ceremony on Thursday, July 17, in Negril, Jamaica. The bride is the daughter of Wendy and Chris Mylek, Rick Williams and Bobby and Lisa Matheny. Parents of the bridegroom are Nancy Smith and Ken and Jeanie Smith. The couple spent their honeymoon at Sandals Negril. They reside in this city.
Woodhams and Plain
The engagement of Ashley Marie Woodhams and Joshua Morton Plain is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of John and Kristi McElroy of Ringgold, Ga. Parents of the future bridegroom are Todd and Janet Plain and Rick and Pam Pollard. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 4, at McFarland United Methodist Church, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Ken and Sharon Mink of Ringgold, Diana Shea of Lake Charles, La., and Robert McElroy. Miss Woodhams received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Dalton State College. She is a store manager at Owl Cove Boutique and is youth director at McFarland United Methodist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Ben and Sis Plain and Gene and Pat Clark. Mr. Plain received a degree in marketing from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is vice president at PlainView LE.D. and is a member of Calvary Chapel.
Cabrera and Smith
Dana Rena Cabrera became the bride of Charles Garland Smith Jr. in a ceremony on Saturday, May 31, at Pot Point Cabin in the Tennessee River gorge. The Rev. Edward LeCompte performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Buford Cabrera, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Guider Jr. of Rossville. Parents of the bridegroom are Terri Guider Smith of Signal Mountain and Charles G. Smith. Holly Beth Hickam was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Natalie Grayson Smith, Inga Christine Acebedo and Constance Diane Duncan. Lyla Elizabeth Richardson and Gracie Marie Ellis were flower girls. Parker Guider Smith served as best man. Groomsmen were Buford Leon Cabrera Jr. and Zachary James Ballard. Kolby Aaron Hickam was ring bearer. A reception was held at Pot Point Cabin. After a wedding trip to Mayan Rivera, Mexico, the couple resides in Soddy-Daisy.
Simon and Coulter
The engagement of Signe Sinkjoer Simon and Scott Michael Coulter is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Jette Sinkjoer Simon of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Richard Ira Simon of Washington, D.C. Parents of the future bridegroom are Dr. Steven and Beverly Coulter of Signal Mountain. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Aug. 16, at Holckenhavn Castle in Nyborg, Denmark. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Minna Sinkjoer of Holstebro, Denmark. Miss Simon graduated magna cum laude from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. She is a doctoral student in psychology at Fordham University in New York, N.Y. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Henry and Margot Haesloop and the late Bill and Gwen Coulter, all of Tulsa, Okla. Mr. Coulter is a graduate of McCallie School and received a master’s degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University. He is managing director of Lone Pine Capital.
Coulter and McKenzie
The engagement of Dr. Sarah Margaret Coulter and Andrew “Drew” Douglas McKenzie is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dr. Steven and Beverly Coulter of Signal Mountain. Parents of the future bridegroom are Doug and Sue McKenzie of Middle River, Md. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 25, at Seven Oaks Farm on Signal Mountain, home of the future bride’s parents. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Margot and Henry Haesloop and Gwen and the late Bill Coulter, all of Tulsa, Okla. Dr. Coulter is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School and College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. She received her medical degree from Rocky Vista University School of Medicine in Denver and is now serving an OB/GYN residency at McLaren-Greater Lansing Hospital in Greater Lansing, Mich. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Dorothy McKenzie of Middle River. Mr. McKenzie graduated from Boy’s Latin School of Maryland and Towson University. He is a sommelier/wine expert.
