The engagement of Erin Brook Smallen and Corey Charles Quarles is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Ken and Theresa Smallen. Parents of the future bridegroom are Tony and Ramona Quarles. The wedding is planned for Friday, Sept. 26, at The Georgia Winery.

Hitchings and Plating

The engagement of Hannah Catherine Hitchings and Zachary David Plating is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Frank Albert Hitchings III of Lookout Mountain, Ga. Parents of the future bridegroom are retired Col. and Mrs. John David Plating of Lookout Mountain. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Aug. 23, at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, where the future bride is a member. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Frank Hitchings Jr. of Memphis and Mrs. James Ballard Jr. of Greenville, Miss. Miss Hitchings graduated from Girls Preparatory School and received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Covenant College. She is a teaching partner at Siskin Children’s Institute. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Plating of Fredericksburg, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Jack McGuirk of Indian River, Mich., and Bill Hankins of Roseville, Calif.. Mr. Plating is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English from Covenant College. He is employed at Covenant College and attends Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Wedding

Overton and Gigandet

Margaret Overton became the bride of Patrick Joseph Gigandet in a ceremony on Saturday, June 28, at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. William Edwin Dudley performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hudson Overton Sr. of Signal Mountain. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Gerard Gigandet of Wellington, Fla., and Jean Maddox Ballenger of Marietta, Ga. Julie Whitehead was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Holly Overton, Lesslie Overton Duncan, Katie Murchison and Laura Catharine Brittain. Allison Overton Sherwood was an honorary bridesmaid. Haven Overton and Francesca Overton were flower girls. Program attendants were Molly Gigandet Roberts and Elizabeth Purnell Overton. Ryan Lacy served as best man. Groomsmen were John Overton, Frank Overton Jr., Todd Borgmeier and Clay Hamlin III. Ushers were Gary Barnes and Earle Robinson. A reception was held at The Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple resides in this city.

Brown and Glass

The engagement of Brittany Nicole Brown and Andrew Kyle Glass is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of James and Kathy Brown and Melissa Brown. Parents of the future bridegroom are Jeff and Pam Glass. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Sept. 13, in Stratton Hall. The bride- elect is the granddaughter of Bill and Linda Brown and Rick and Gypsy Toth. Miss Brown is a graduate of Baylor School. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is a surgical intensive care unit nurse at Erlanger Hospital and is a member of Silverdale Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Betty Wyrick and Carolyn Glass. Mr. Glass is a graduate of Ooltewah High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Bryan College. He is a swing courier at FedEx Express and a member of Silverdale Baptist Church.
