Johnson and Redmond

Azurae Kayla Johnson became the bride of Matthew Holt Redmond in a ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Ritz Carlton, St. Thomas, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The bride is the daughter of Corinne Edgar Johnson and the late Dr. Welburne Dewitt Johnson II. Parents of the bridegroom are Richard Carlton Redmond and Susan Jackson Redmond. The bride is a senior chemical engineering major at Tennessee Technological University. The bridegroom received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Tennessee Tech. He is employed by Mesa Associates Inc. Mr. and Mrs. Redmond are members of First Lutheran Church and reside in this city.

Engagement

Overton and Gigandet

The engagement of Margaret Blanton Overton and Patrick Joseph Gigandet is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Frank and Minnie Lou Overton of Signal Mountain. Parents of the future bridegroom are Jean Ballenger of Marietta, Ga., and Pat and Terri Gigandet of Wellington, Fla. The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 28, at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, where the bride-elect is a member. Miss Overton received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and communications from Furman University, a master’s degree in school counseling from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a degree in counselor education from the University of Alabama. She is a counselor at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School. Mr. Gigandet received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech. He is a project engineer for Wacker Chemical Corp. and is a member of First Baptist Church in Augusta, Ga.

Turnbo-Hardin and Campbell

The engagement of Chelsea Kaee Turnbo-Hardin and Geoffrey Colin Campbell is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dennis and Carla Turnbo of Ringgold, Ga. Parents of the future bridegroom are Tim and Susan Campbell of Tullahoma, Tenn. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 4, at Grace Episcopal Church, where the bride-elect is a member. Ms. Turnbo-Hardin received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and electronic media from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is a makeup artist for Bobbi Brown cosmetics. Mr. Campbell received a bachelor’s degree in studio arts and a master’s degree in art education from UTK. He is an art teacher at Cleveland High School.

Anderson and Lingerfelt

The engagement of Jessica Dawn Anderson and James Robert Lingerfelt is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Kimberly Beavers and “Trail” Anderson. Parents of the future bridegroom are Norman and Joanna Cowger and the late Robert Lingerfelt. The wedding is planned for Thursday, March 13, at Miracle Lighthouse Church. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Sharon Hornbuckle, Johnny Davis and the late James and Joyce Anderson. Miss Anderson is a graduate of East Ridge High School and is employed by Champion Cleaners. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Daryl Hayseltt, Jackie Allison and Hugh Lingerfelt. Mr. Lingerfelt attended Central High School and is employed in remodeling services.

Baird and Ivey

The engagement of Hutton Speer Baird and Joseph Alexander “Pud” Ivey is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn David Baird Sr. of Signal Mountain. Parents of the future bridegroom are Elizabeth Smith DesChamps and Dr. George Thomas DesChamps Jr. of Pawleys Island, S.C., and the late Joseph Alexander “Alec” Ivey. The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 21, at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, where the future bride is a member. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lois Baird of Signal Mountain, the late Andrew Calvin Baird Sr., Dotsy Stuart and Dr. George Pickel, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Miss Baird will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in history from Wake Forest University, where she is a member of Chi Omega sorority. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Elizabeth Crutchfield Smith of Orangeburg, N.C., the late David William Smith Jr., the late Joe Cephus Ivey and the late Ruth Wilmoth Ivey. Mr. Ivey received a bachelor’s degree in religion from Wake Forest University. He is a student at the Medical University of South Carolina and is a member of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church.

Kain and Adams

The engagement of Kathleen Kain and John David Adams is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Kain of Hendersonville, Tenn. Parents of the future bridegroom are Dr. and Mrs. J. David C. Adams. The wedding is planned for Saturday, March 29, at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Kain of Harlingen, Texas, Rita Fullen of Columbus, Ohio, and the late Richard Fullen. Miss Kain received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She was an elementary schoolteacher in Knoxville for three years and is currently employed as a teacher at Grace Early Learning Center in Georgetown, Ky. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Shirley, the late Walter S. Adams II and the late Sue A. Adams. Mr. Adams received a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in business administration from UT. He is a logistics specialist at Toyota Tsusho in Georgetown and is a member of White Oak United Methodist Church.

The engagement of Charlotte Ryan Beene and Philip Aaron Wells is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Meg Crimmins Beene of Lookout Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Mitchell Beene. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Douglass Wells IV. The wedding is planned for Saturday, July 26, at Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, where the future bride is a member. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Crimmins Jr. of Lookout Mountain, Mrs. Melvin Woody Beene and the late Mr. Beene. Miss Beene is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is a teacher at Highland Plaza First United Methodist Preschool. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Wells and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Adcock. Mr. Wells is a graduate of McCallie School. He received a bachelor’s degree in communication from UTC. He is an assistant in the Hamilton County Public Defender’s office.
