Morrow and Brooks

Brooks - Morrow Meredith Morrow became the bride of Jay William Brooks Jr. in a ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Aaron Tolson performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Hugh and Caroline Morrow of Lookout Mountain, Ga. Parents of the bridegroom are Jay and Abbie Brooks of Rising Fawn, Ga. Carly Morrow Moss was matron of honor and Hannah Morrow was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Anna Brooks, Margaret Welborn, Frances Heald, Misha Testerman, Catherine Harris, Diana Prescott, Hannah Baldwin, Ali Mackay and Tiffany Weatherholtz. Reagan Sweet and Locksley Sweet were flower girls. Mr. Brooks served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Mathes Ballard, Davis Mooney, Jason Cha, Taylor Rogers, Jonathan Bosshardt, Nathan Terrell, John Hart Geary, Crayton Campbell, Noah Bowling and Hudson Brock. Ushers were Jake Moon, Jack Rogan, Grayson Lowery, John Moore and Jonathan Franklin. A reception was held at Fairyland Club. After a wedding trip to Sapphire, N.C., the couple will reside in Athens, Ga.

Engagement

Orient and Matthews

The engagement of Lisa Cathlene Orient and Ryan Lee Matthews is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Jeffrey and Cathy Orient of Pittsburgh, Pa. Parents of the future bridegroom are Richard and Terry Matthews of Chattanooga. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Jan. 18, at Graystone Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. The bride- elect is the granddaughter of Edward and Eleanor Franz of Fort Myers, Fla., and the late Paul and Christina Orient. Miss Orient received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lee University and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is a counselor at Pellissippi State Community College and a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of LeRoy and Loretta Stynchcombe, Sandra Matthews of Ringgold, Ga., and the late Curtis Matthews. Mr. Matthews received a bachelor’s degree in sport management from UTK, where he is campus director of Athletes in Action. He is a member of Redeemer Church of Knoxville.

Kelly and Daffron

Melissa Lee Kelly became the bride of Samuel Clark Daffron on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, during a private ceremony at Tanner Farm, home of the bridegroom’s aunt, Mary Tanner. The bridegroom’s uncle, Judge McCracken Poston, performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Victoria Hellyer of Waterford, Ontario, and Brian Kelly of Russell, Ontario. Parents of the bridegroom are Nancy Poston and Chip Caldwell of Chattanooga, Richard Daffron of Chattanooga and Rick White of Ringgold, Ga. The bride was attended by her mother. Ben Daffron served his brother as best man. A reception was held at the Mayor’s Mansion. The bride received welding technology certification from Fanshawe College in Simcoe, Ontario. She is a welding specialist for Daffron Race Innovations. Mr. Daffron graduated from Stetson School of Business at Mercer University, and received a degree in race engine design at the School of Auto Machinists in Houston, Texas. He is owner of Daffron Race Innovations in Flintstone, Ga. A wedding trip is planned at a later date. The couple will reside in Flintstone.

The engagement of Laurie Palmer and Jason Jones is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dave and Patty Palmer of Soddy-Daisy. Parents of the future bridegroom are Ed and Linda Jones of Galion, Ohio. A September wedding is planned. Miss Jones is a graduate of Galion High School in Ohio. She received a bachelor’s degree in public communication from Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is a retail advertising executive at the Chattanooga Times Free Press. The future bridegroom is a graduate of Crestline High School in Ohio. He received a bachelor’s degree in health education from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. He is a lead quality control inspector at Essilor Laboratories.

The engagement of Regina Marie Bruno and David Liles Barry is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dr. Ronald J. Bruno and the late Sandra Fuchser Bruno. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. John D. Barry of Signal Mountain. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Jan. 25, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, where the future bridegroom is a member. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Fuchser of Walthill, Neb., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bruno. Miss Bruno is a graduate of Farragut High School. She is a correspondent for BlueCross BlueShield/BlueCare and is a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hunter McDonald Jr. of Nashville, the late David V. Barry and Louise C. Barry. Mr. Barry received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is pursuing a law degree at The Nashville School of Law.

Simpson and Sy

The engagement of Meredith Cody Simpson and Bryan Matthew Sy is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of William and Becky Simpson of Sale Creek, Tenn. Parents of the future bridegroom are Ron and LaDonna Sy of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Debbie Sy of Clinton, Tenn. The wedding is planned for Saturday, April 26, at DeBarge Vineyard. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Raymond and Lucy Wolfenbarger of Oak Ridge, Tom Simpson of Loudon, Tenn., the late Ruth Simpson and the late Glen and Betty Eubanks. Miss Simpson received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and a master’s of public health degree in health policy from George Washington University. She is an implementation consultant at MBA HealthGroup. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Iretta Bell of Westville, Ill., the late Orville Bell and the late Arnie and Ann Sy. Mr. Sy received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from UTK. He is a professional engineer and district manager at Professional Service Industries Inc. in McKinney, Texas.
