China makes it 3-for-3 in diving

BEIJING — Wang Xin and Chen Ruolin gave China its third straight victory in diving, easily winning the women’s 10-meter synchronized competition on Tuesday.

The home team is now 3-for-3 in one of its favorite sports, having also won synchro events in woman’s 3-meter springboard and men’s 10-meter platform. The Chinese are hoping to sweep all eight golds in diving.

Wang and Chen won gold with a score of 363.54 points. Australia’s Briony Cole and Melissa Wu took the silver at 335.16, while Mexico’s Paola Espinosa and Tatiana Ortiz claimed bronze at 330.06.

The Americans, Mary Beth Dunnichay and Haley Ishamatsu, were fifth in the eight-team field at 309.12.
