HEARD ON THE TOWN
ST. JUDE School’s day school building got a face lift for the new school year, thanks to a group of dedicated parents. According to Kathleen Etherton, the school’s director of development and clinic manager, parents painted the house bright red giving it a new look.
“Working to create the ‘little red schoolhouse,’ (they) painted, cleaned and stained the deck and decorated the garden,” Ms. Etherton said.
“They volunteered to do the painting. The house was gray and needed to be painted. Painting it red was their idea, and they did a good job. It really is cute now.”
The school also honored members of the St. Jude School Home and School Association for their successful efforts in raising $58,000 last year for school and program enhancements, Ms. Etherton said.
The group was honored during the school’s recent open house and orientation.
“Every family is a member of the Home and School Association,” she said. “It’s like the Parent and Teachers Association. The officers are elected by the parents.”
Those honored were Mary Beth Welch, Kathy Fortin, Coleen Davis and Lora Trotter.
House-painting volunteers were Kent Collyer, Lacey Lezon, Lora Trotter, Pam Prichard, Holly Nowell, Arika Michel, Stephanie Eberle and Nancy Howard.
