Baylor joins LFO girls with third-place wins

The Baylor boys’ basketball team got its first wins of the season in the Times Free Press Best of Preps tournament, including a 64-49 victory over McMinn Central on Saturday afternoon that earned the Red Raiders third place in the tournament.

Baylor (2-4) got 22 points apiece from Jordan Clark and Zane Gibson, and Clark made seven of the Red Raiders’ 10 3-pointers.

* Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe girls 56, GPS 48: Kayla Weaver’s 29-point performance led the Lady Warriors to the victory in the third-place game. Jasmain Carey followed with 17 for LFO, while Chaddaryl Clay led the Bruisers with 20.

* Ridgeland 77, Grace Academy 70: The Panthers handed the Golden Eagles their second overtime loss of the tournament as Mike Bowman scored 22 points for Ridgeland in the fifth-place game. Dewaun Harrison added 16, and Grace’s Terrell Church led all scorers with 23 points.

* Baylor girls 41, Chattanooga Christian 35: The Lady Red Raiders claimed fifth place with 12 points from Kiera Payne and 11 from Amber Howard. Chelsea Jones was the leading scorer for CCS with 12.
