I Love my Job: at Farley’s and Sathers Candy Company

  • photo

Why do I love my job? Well, I work for a candy company! And if that isn’t enough, I also love working with all of our employees! Many, many years ago, while working as a data entry clerk, I realized data entry was not what I wanted to do for a career. After working a temporary assignment in the Personnel Department at Brock Candy Company, I knew this was something I found interesting and fulfilling. As a result of that assignment, I was offered a permanent position and remained there for 10 years, until their reorganization.

A few years after leaving Brock’s, I came to work for Farley’s and Sathers Candy Company as their Human Resources Generalist. I believe that HR is here to provide service to all employees of the company and that is what I strive to do. I want the employees to know they can come to me for any assistance they need. My first contact with the employees begins with their initial offer of a job and our relationship continues throughout their employment.

During my interview for the position, I discovered that most of the employees had worked for the company for many years. This says a lot for a company. You know people like it, or they wouldn’t stay. I have thoroughly enjoyed working for this company and its people. I will be retiring in just a few months and as the time gets closer, I get a little bit sad to know that I won’t have the close contact I have now with so many wonderful people.
