Businesses evacuated after gas leak

Four Gadd Road businesses briefly were evacuated today after a gas leak, according to Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner.

Business now is back to normal in the 1000 block of Gadd Road, where a company installing a fence apparently struck a low-pressure gas line accidentally around 11 a.m., Mr. Garner said. The nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution, he said, though traffic was not adversely affected and no one was reported injured.
