Family, friends remember Marine killed in Iraq

Lance Cpl. James Michael Gluff

DALTON, Ga. — Friends and family gathered today to remember Lance Cpl. James Michael Gluff, 20, during his funeral service at Love Funeral Home in Dalton, Ga.

“I can’t explain it, how much I miss him,” said the Marine’s father, James Gluff, of Jamestown, Tenn. “He was a special, precious person.”

Lance Cpl. Gluff, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., was killed Jan. 19 in a suicide bomber attack in Al Anbar province in Iraq. His wife said today that the family is numb and overwhelmed.

“I just can’t cry anymore,” said Hope Gluff, also 20. “You cry so much, day and night, you run out of tears.”

The Marine, who also leaves behind a 14-month-old son, will be buried with full military honors today at 2:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
