More UGA players arrested
At this rate, the 2008 University of Georgia football team photo may have to be taken from the front and the side.
Offensive linemen Justin Anderson and Trinton Sturdivant were arrested Monday night in Athens on misdemeanor battery charges, and defensive end Michael Lemon is a suspect in a battery incident Saturday night that left a fellow student with a fractured eye. Should Lemon be charged, it would give the Bulldogs seven arrests in the seven months since they capped an 11-2 season by thrashing Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl.
According to the incident report from the UGA police department, Anderson and Sturdivant touched a pregnant woman on the belly early last Friday morning without her consent. The contact took place at the East Campus Village dormitory, where the two players are residents.
Sturdivant started all 13 games at left tackle last season as a true freshman and was named by Southeastern Conference coaches to the league’s All-Freshman team. Anderson redshirted last season and entered this spring as the No. 2 right guard behind Clint Boling.
Boling was arrested in May on a DUI charge in his Alpharetta hometown.
Lemon’s incident took place at The Exchange apartment complex swimming pool. He allegedly hit Demarius Jackson several times, according to the Athens-Clarke County police report. Lemon allegedly knocked Jackson down after asking why Jackson had been talking to his girlfriend and had to be pulled away.

Jackson went to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
Lemon made seven tackles in eight games last season after redshirting in 2006. His mother was murdered in February 2007, when her boyfriend was charged with setting her mobile home on fire in Lizella, near Macon. Georgia’s athletic association established the “Lemon Support Fund” to help Lemon and his younger brother, and more than $60,000 was raised.
Bulldogs coach Mark Richt is out of town this week but is aware of the separate incidents, according to a school official. Richt has yet to announce punishment for Boling and for defensive end Jeremy Lomax, who was arrested last month on charges of speeding and carrying a concealed weapon.
