Prebul purchases Dalton Buick

Prebul Automotive Group has purchased the Pye Buick franchise in Dalton, Ga., and will combine it with Prebul’s existing GMC, Pontiac, Cadillac dealership located on East Walnut Street.

“(General Motors) right now has a mission to merge all the Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealers together under one channel,” said Joe Prebul, president of the Prebul Automotive Group. “Now we are aligned with the channels that General Motors is requesting us to be a part of. We just happen to have Cadillac, too.”

Mr. Prebul declined to release the purchase price.

Officials at Pye Automotive did not return calls Monday seeking comment.

David Melton, managing partner of what is now Prebul Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, said Pye Buick’s inventory was down to 11 cars, which now have been moved to the Prebul location at 1554 E. Walnut St.

“We just put in a huge order,” Mr. Melton said. “Buick is very excited about the move.”

Mr. Prebul and Mr. Melton agreed the acquisition fills a gap between Pontiac and Cadillac because Buick vehicles are typically priced between the two.

“This is a great fit for our dealership,” Mr. Melton said.

Mr. Prebul said the purchase provides Prebul customers with other options and will increase their service business under the Buick name.

“What makes this so unique is that the Dalton market was so strong, this was one of their target markets in the Southeast United States.”

The acquisition brings the number of Prebul franchises to 12 in Chattanooga, Dayton and Dalton, Ga.

Prebul has Chrysler, Kia, Jeep, Ford, Dodge Infinity and Volvo franchises in Chattanooga and Chrysler Jeep and Dodge franchises in Dayton.

In Dalton, Prebul now has Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Kia and Mazda.
