Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield failed to yield the right of way and hit another car Saturday afternoon, police officials said.
There were no reported injuries and no citations were issued, according to Sgt. Jerri Weary, Chattanooga Police spokeswoman.
The accident happened at the intersection of 14th and Carter streets at about 2 p.m., the sergeant said.
Ms. Weary said in a statement that the traffic accident report indicated Mr. Littlefield was turning onto Carter Street from 14th Street when his car hit a vehicle traveling on Carter Street.
Neither vehicle sustained serious injuries, the statement said.
“Mayor Littlefield was found at fault for the accident for failure to yield the right of way,” the statement said. “No citations were issued because both drivers were insured. Wet road conditions and visual obstructions were contributing factors in the wreck.”
