Chattanooga Army Reserve unit deploys

The Chattanooga-based 591st Transportation Company of the Army Reserve is en route to Indiana to train for a yearlong deployment to Iraq.

Twenty-two men and one woman said their final goodbyes to family and friends at the Army Reserve Center just off Bonny Oaks Drive this morning before boarding the bus to Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, Ind.

They’ll arrive at the training camp this afternoon and are expected to stay there for about a month before shipping off to the Middle East, according to 591st unit administrator Pat Canerdy.

Once in Iraq, they will be tasked with coordinating supply shipments, Ms. Canerdy said.
