Chattanooga: Wife in surgery after being shot by husband

A Chattanooga woman sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her hands and abdomen in an afternoon domestic dispute, police said.

It happened at a home in the 3700 block of Sixth Avenue in the East Lake community, said Lt. Kim Noorbergen, police spokeswoman. She characterized the shooting as a domestic incident between husband and wife.

The victim, whose name has not been released, now is in surgery at Erlanger hospital, officials said.

Ralph Jarrett, the husband, turned himself in to Hamilton Sheriff’s Department officials shortly after the shooting, officials said.
