Funeral services Sunday for slain Grundy County officer

Funeral services for Shane Tate, the Grundy County sheriff's deputy killed while trying to arrest Kermit E. Bryson on Thursday, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. CDT at Altamont Church of Christ.

Visitation will be Saturday from 5-9 p.m. at Layne Funeral Home.

Mr. Bryson shot and killed Mr. Tate when Mr. Tate and two other officers served an outstanding warrant on Mr. Bryson at his home.

Mr. Bryson died early this morning from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a manhunt involving more than 100 officers.
