Neal Pascal, who spent more than 25 years forecasting weather in our area as chief meteorologist at WTVC, will join the WRCB Eyewitness News team, according to announcement today by Tom Tolar, president and general manager of WRCB.
Mr. Tolar said Mr. Pascal will begin his duties immediately and will be seen on-air between now and the start of the new fall season.
“We are delighted to have Neal Pascal join the Eyewitness News team,” Mr. Tolar said. “Neal has more than 25 years of experience forecasting weather here in the Tennessee Valley. WRCB is proud to be continuing the tradition of giving our viewers the best, most accurate, forecast available.”
Mr. Pascal said, “It is a true honor to be headed back on television at WRCB. Tom Tolar and everyone at WRCB have graciously given me a second chance and I will uphold my end by doing what I really love…television weather that provides real coverage our viewers can count on.”
In April of 2007 Mr. Pascal was sentenced to three months of home detention as part of a three-year probationary sentence for making a false statement on a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development form.
Chief U.S. District Court Judge Curtis Collier also ordered Mr. Pascal to pay a $4,000 fine and produce a video explaining mortgage fraud and the legal ramifications of getting caught in such a scheme.
According to court records, Mr. Pascal bought houses that were for sale by the owner, and after negotiating a price would convince the seller to inflate the price to allow him to borrow more from the lender.
He had an agreement with the owner to refund the extra amount, which would cover his down payment, records show.
After leaving WTVC, Mr. Pascal opened the Jet Stream Grill on Frazier Avenue.
Mr. Pascal came to Chattanooga in 1981, and he received the American Meteorological Society’s Television Seal of Approval in 1982.
