ATLANTA — The ripple effect of the tornado that touched the Georgia Dome on Friday night were still being felt today at the Southeastern Conference basketball tournament.

The quarterfinal matchup between Georgia and Kentucky — which was postponed from Friday night after severe weather damaged the Georgia Dome at approximately 9:40 p.m. — will start at noon today. The rest of the SEC tournament will be at the Alexander Memorial Coliseum at the campus of Georgia Tech because of damage at the Georgia Dome from the storm.

Top-seeded Tennessee will play Arkansas in a semifinal game at 6 p.m. tonight, and the winner of of the Kentucky-Georgia game will face Mississippi State at approximately 8:30 p.m. tonight.

Alexander Coliseum has a much smaller seating capacity that the Georgia Dome, causing Tennessee sports information official Craig Pinkerton to caution Vols fans without a ticket about trying to attend any of the rest of the Vols’ SEC tournament games.

“If you don’t already have a ticket now,” Pinkerton said, “you’re not going to get one.”

Sunday’s SEC championship game has been moved from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
