Emergency responders were called to the Epicurean Restaurant at 4301 Ringgold Road to investigate a suspicious package near the front of the building, according to Officer Erik Hopkins of the East Ridge Police Department.

The package consisted of a military style ammunition box with an attached note, he said.

The area was evacuated, the Chattanooga Police Department’s bomb squad was called and a robot moved the box to a safe location, Officer Hopkins said.

A water cannon was used to open the box and reveal blasting caps and other explosive material that was inside, he said.

The box and material were secured as evidence and East Ridge criminal investigators are following up on leads in the case, Officer Hopkins.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the confidential tip line at 867-0016.

This article does not say if it was an active bomb ready to be set off! Does anyone know more details?
