University of Chattanooga: Lambert commits to join Lady Mocs
Wes Moore and the University of Chattanooga women’s basketball program have picked up their first commitment for the 2009-10 freshman class in 5-foot-11 McMinn Central junior guard Kylie Lambert.
Lambert, an all-state and Times Free Press Best of Preps first team selection this season, chose the Lady Mocs after visiting UTC last weekend.
“I went to visit Saturday, and I felt very comfortable,” she said. “I felt like it was a good fit for me.”
Lambert averaged 16.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a junior, leading led the Chargerettes to a 32-3 record, a No. 1 state ranking, their third consecutive District 5-AA and Region 3 titles, and all the way to the semifinals of the state tournament.
She said she’s excited about the prospect of playing at a program as successful as UTC, which has won nine consecutive Southern Conference regular-season titles and seven of the past eight SoCon tournaments. She’s also happy to have the decision out of the way.
“I’m used to winning at McMinn Central, and hopefully I can help keep that going (at UTC),” she said. “I feel less pressured now that I’ve made my decision. I feel like I can play without having to worry about a big decision like that hanging over me.”
