Wreck in Chattanooga leaves one in serious condition

A woman is in the hospital this morning after crashing her van Monday while traveling west on Main Street.

Chattanooga police said the driver of the van, Jo Dean, lost control of the van around 6:25 p.m., causing it to hit an embankment, travel through a yard and stop after hitting another embankment.

Ms. Dean suffered extensive injuries and is listed in serious condition at Erlanger. A passenger, Pamela Sizemore, suffered cuts to her face and legs.

Officials say it appears brake failure was the cause of the accident, but an investigation is continuing.
