Like many others, I have to work two jobs to make ends meet. I work for NAPA Auto Parts during the day and a couple of nights a week at Big Lots in Hixson. At NAPA, I work as a counter salesman and delivery driver. The management team, Randy Norton and Dave Sands insure that our sales and delivery staff work hard to take care of our customers in a professional way.

Richard D. Secrest - ASE Parts Specialist
As an ASE Certified Parts Specialist I can serve my commercial and walk-in customers by providing quality parts for their repairs. Through NAPA's training schedules I have gained better knowledge in both sales and automotive systems, to better serve the business and customers. I am glad to sell my customers a quality product, that they know my company will stand behind it.
The parent company of NAPA is Genuine Parts Co, and they have training seminars during the year for the stores to better serve the customer. Every customer that comes into our store is greeted immediately and asked how we can serve them. I enjoy the interaction with our customers and we know them by their names.
When I have to make an occasional delivery, I look forward to it because I get to interact with the mechanics. While there, I often inquire as to any supplies or products they need, so that I can get it to them when I return to the store. This not only helps the customer but also increases sales for the company.
I work with a great bunch of professionals at NAPA Auto Parts and we all strive daily to improve sales and deliveries. Providing a quality repair part to a satisfied customer is very rewarding.

Richard D. Secrest - Recovery Associate
My other job is with Big Lots of Hixson as a recovery associate. As you can imagine, products on the shelves often need to be replaced. It is my job to restock the shelves that are emptied as well as straightening the shelves. Because of the size of our store I am required to work in different areas, so one night might be recovering the food area or folding clothes in clothing.
Often times I am called on to do price checks or carry out items sold to load in the customer's vehicles. Or I may be assigned to work in furniture sales. At Big Lots, our manager, Ken Martin, strives for customer satisfaction and we treat all of our customers with respect and kindness. If I see a customer carrying an armload of goods, I will go get them a shopping cart to make their shopping experience more pleasant for them. I am asked several times in locating items in the warehouse or getting items down from a high shelf.
Although the dwindling economy has forced me to take a second job, working at NAPA Auto Parts and Big Lots of Hixson is very rewarding and I look forward to each day I am scheduled to work.
