Chattanooga: Former Rep. Vincent injured in motorcycle accident

Former State Rep. Jim Vincent was injured Tuesday in a motorcycle accident in North Carolina, according to Hamilton County Commissioner Bill Hullander.

Mr. Vincent, who held the District 31 seat from 2000 to 2004, was listed in fair condition today at Erlanger hospital, according to hospital officials.

In a commission meeting this morning, Mr. Hullander said Mr. Vincent, who also was a Hamilton county commissioner from 1998 until he became a state representative in 2000, broke his cheek and sustained other injuries in the wreck.

Law enforcement officials in Bryson City, N.C., said there was report on a motorcycle accident in the area on Tuesday, but could give no more details, saying the final incident report had not been turned in.

Mr. Vincent ran for re-election to District 31 this year, losing the August election to Rep. Jim Cobb, R-Spring City.
