Chattanooga: Motorists' patience grows short
Staff Photo by Tim Barber Sam Noles, right, fills a 5-gallon gas can in the bed of his truck at Ronnie Robinson's Corner Market Wednesday on Boynton Drive. Pumps one and two have an "Out" sign on the glass where numbers are usually visible.
Bags covering gas pump nozzles and long lines at stations are common sights around Chattanooga. Officials with AAA Auto Club South and the U.S. Department of Energy said fuel supplies are on the way, but motorists in the Chattanooga area are losing patience.

“I’m from Los Angeles, and I had no idea this would be such a problem. I had to wait 45 minutes to get gas.”
Vivian Jarrett, 49
“It’s becoming a big hassle. I heard on the news that relief is coming. I just don’t know when.”
Charles Straub, 49
“I haven’t had trouble. I just happened to get it here. This is the second place I stopped. I wouldn’t really call that having trouble.”
Jim Eck, 69
“We’re coming from up north, and we stopped at three or four places before we found it. It seems like it is just in Chattanooga. We haven’t had any trouble anywhere else.”
Willethia Wigfall, 41
“I have been running around for an hour trying to find it, and I can’t find it anywhere. They’ve been talking about it — getting better in a week — but it’s been longer than a week.”
