Hamilton County: Commissioners set new rules for magistrate

A Hamilton County Commission panel today decided to set a maximum number of hours per week for the county’s four judicial commissioners and discussed scheduling.

The commissioners expressed surprise when they interviewed applicants for the judicial commissioner’s position two weeks ago that some magistrates were working less than 30 hours per week.

The commission panel has reopened the application process and will conduct interviews on Oct. 28.

Judicial commissioner s perform limited judicial duties such as setting bond and signing warrants on nights and weekends.
