Chattanooga: Galvanizing firm unifies 2 operations

A galvanizing company has consolidated two of its operations under one roof, a move which will provide room for growth, the manager says.

“We’re poised for the future, for other opportunities” said Clair Nelson, general manager of South Atlantic Galvanizing.

Two months ago the company subleased a 25,000-square-foot warehouse at 4162B S. Creek Road, said Jeff Jennings with NAI Charter Real Estate.

Mr. Jennings represented the building’s original tenant, HD Supply, a national wholesale distribution company. HD Supply closed its local site in April, he said.

Robert Fisher of ReMax Renaissance Realtors represented South Atlantic.

Chattanooga is one of five locations across the Southeast for South Atlantic, which provides coating services for manufacturers, fabricators and other companies, Mr. Nelson said.

South Atlantic’s newly subleased building allowed the company to move the production and distribution of two products to one location, Mr. Nelson said. The new building is larger than the previous locations combined, and has room for future growth, he said.

The building now houses the company’s galvanized grounding rods production operation, he said. The rods are sold to the electricity industry. The building also houses the lintel production operation. The lintels are sold to the masonry industry. Eleven staffers work at the new building, and South Atlantic does not anticipate hiring more people, Mr. Nelson said.

The company’s Chattanooga office is at 4186 S. Creek Road. The company does galvanizing there as well, Mr. Nelson said.
