KNOXVILLE: Crompton getting “extra treatment” on ankle

KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee starting quarterback Jonathan Crompton was not outside with the team during its first four practice periods Tuesday afternoon.

UT sports information officials confirmed through head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh that Crompton was inside getting “extra treatment” on an ankle injury that’s been bothering him for weeks.

One UT official said he wasn’t sure whether Crompton would practice after the fourth period, when media are asked to leave.

The Volunteers (1-1) host fourth-ranked Florida (2-0) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
