Chattanooga: Hearing date for the Rev. Eugene Overstreet set for Nov. 13

The Rev. Eugene Overstreet appeared in Hamilton County Criminal Court this morning on charges of parole violation stemming from a felony worthless check charge.

Mr. Overstreet, who was the FBI’s confidential informant in helping to bring down former Hamilton County Sheriff Billy Long, was arrested last week.

Judge Don Poole set Mr. Overstreet’s hearing date for Nov. 13.

Mr. Long pleaded guilty to on May 5 to 19 counts of extortion, six counts of money laundering, one count of providing a firearm to a convicted felon and one count of possession with intent to sell cocaine. His sentencing date is set for Oct. 27.

Mr. Overstreet was represented by Stan Lanzo.
