Chattanooga: Murder trial jury still deliberating

Jurors will continue deliberating this afternoon in the murder trial of Dyron Yokley.

Mr. Yokley is accused of running gunning down Tyus Steele in early 2007 in broad daylight across a clearing in Red Bank’s White Oak Park.

Prosecutors say Mr. Yokley acted with premeditation, firing two rounds into Mr. Steele’s head and abdomen after a drug deal didn’t go his way.

While Mr. Yokley never has denied shooting Mr. Steele, he claims he did not plan the killing and should not be convicted of first-degree murder.

The Jan. 28, 2007, homicide was Red Bank’s first killing since 2001.
