Vice President Dick Cheney disembarks Air Force Two at Tac Air North at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport today. Mr. Cheney will speak this afternoon at opening events for the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia.

Vice President Dick Cheney arrived in Chattanooga at 10:45 a.m. today at Lovell Field.

Mr. Cheney is scheduled to speak at noon today at the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga.

There were reports of traffic delays across town in the wake of his arrival.

The vice president’s plane taxied the runway and passed about 200 feet from a pool of reporters.

After exiting the plane and giving a quick wave to the small crowd, Mr. Cheney’s motorcade of dozens of Tennessee and Georgia State Patrol vehicles, local police and Secret Service left at 10:56 a.m.

Mr. Cheney’s great-grandfather, Samuel Fletcher Cheney, fought in the Battle of Chickamauga.
