East Ridge: Landlord to plead guilty on firearm charges

An East Ridge landlord accused of videotaping female tenants is scheduled to plead guilty today in federal court on firearm charges.

Leasie Eugene Roberts was denied bond on the federal firearm charges in June, 2007, by a federal magistrate judge, who said he was a “danger to the community.”

In state court, Mr. Roberts, who is in his 70s and is incarcerated at the Hamilton County Jail, also faces three counts of photographing without consent and one count each of retaliation for past actions and theft over $500, records show.

Investigators found four firearms as they searched Mr. Roberts’ 4205 Lazard St. residence for evidence in the videotaping case, according to past reports.

Mr. Roberts has prior felony drug and arson convictions that prohibit him from possessing a gun.

Mr. Roberts faces 10 years in federal prison on the firearm charges.
