Chattanooga: City records sixth motorcycle fatality of the year

Chattanooga police are investigation the city’s sixth motorcycle fatality of the year and fourth in the last two months.

The accident occurred about 2 p.m. today at the intersection of Brainerd and Moore roads.

Police said the motorcyle and a white Chevy Tahoe were traveling in opposite directions on Moore Road when the light turned yellow and the Tahoe had already committed to turning.

The man on the motorcycle laid down his tires and somehow became pinned under the Tahoe, said Chattanooga Police Department spoksewoman Sgt. Jerri Weary.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was wearing a helmet and full protective gear, Sgt. Weary said.

Many family and friends of the victim gathered at the scene, some also driving motorcycles.
