The Home Builders Association of Southern Tennessee is constructing plans for a fall home show.

The trade group for 43 years has held a spring event, the Tri-State Home Show, but felt there was a need for a fall show, said Teresa Groves, the association’s executive officer.

“In the fall, people want to spruce up their homes, especially with the holidays coming up,” Mrs. Groves said.

The new show, called the Home and Garden Show, will be Oct. 2-4 at the Chattanooga Convention Center, said Tim McClure, president of the builders association. Visitors will be able to buy home decor merchandise such as furniture, paintings and artificial flowers, lawn and garden items such as bird feeders, and environmentally friendly items such as solar-powered devices, he said. There also will be home appliances.

The fall home show also will have a number of seminars on “green” topics, Mr. McClure said.

The idea for the show came from a similar event in Knoxville called the Dogwood Arts Festival House & Garden Show, Mr. McClure said.

The spring Tri-State Home Show will continue, Mrs. Groves said, and will continue to focus on home building, remodeling and gardening.

The builders association is looking for vendors for the fall show, she said. The cost is $400 for association members or vendors who participated in the spring show, or $500 otherwise, she said. A booth is 10 feet by 10 feet.
