Ed Honeycutt has become director of sales and marketing for Carriage Hill Insurance.
He had served as insurance business manager for AAA in its Albuquerque and Santa Fe, N.M., offices. He is a native Chattanoogan and graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Carriage Hill is a full-service independent insurance agency at 5469 Highway 58. Bobby Wood and Glen Wood head the business.
Rose Decosimo given recognition
Rose Decosimo, an assurance principal with Joseph Decosimo and Co. PLLC, was recently saluted as Accountant of the Year by an accounting honors society at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
She was presented the award at a recent Beta Alpha Psi banquet. Her former instructor, Dr. Marilyn Willis, associate professor of accounting at UTC, presented the award.
The honoree was saluted for her 20 years of service to the accounting profession as a certified public accountant and for her commitment to serving civic and professional organizations in the Chattanooga community, a news release said.
Ms. Decosimo has a B.S. degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and holds an MBA from UTC.
Ben Nemec receives LEED accreditation
Ben Nemec, who is a civil engineer in the Chattanooga office of Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon Inc., has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accredited professional status. He has been with Barge Waggoner since 1998.
The U.S. Green Building Council established the LEED accreditation to honor building professionals with an understanding of green building practices.
Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon is an employee-owned engineering, architecture, planning, landscape architecture and surveying firm.
Sabin named to attorney academy
Attorney Norman Sabin has become a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. He is with Sabin & Associates PLLC and has been practicing law in this community since 1994.
His offices are at 651 E. Fourth St.
Best Western Royal receives award
The Best Western Royal Inn, located at 3644 Cummings Highway, has received the Best Western Chairman’s Award.
The award is the hotel chain’s top honor for outstanding quality standards, a news release said.
“Receiving the Chairman’s Award from Best Western is a tremendous honor,” said Bill Breneman, director of sales. “This award demonstrates the Best Western Royal Inn management’s commitment to providing quality accommodations for our guests. Our housekeeping and maintenance departments have worked hard to achieve this level of excellence.”
It is the fourth consecutive year the hotel has received the honor.
Good Sam honors Trav-L-Park
Holiday Trav-L-Park of Chattanooga has been saluted as one of the top rated parks by Trailer Life Directory’s Good Sam Park network. The Good Sam club is the world’s largest RV owners organization, according to a news release.
The Holiday Trav-L-Park is located a half mile off I-75 at the East Ridge exit. It has 171 sites, full hookups, free Internet accessibility, cable TV, picnic tables and a playground.
Ridgeside signs cable franchise
Ridgeside Mayor Brant Mason recently signed a franchise agreement with EPB for fiber-optic television. Earlier this year, similar franchise agreements were signed with the cities of Chattanooga and East Ridge.
“We are making progress with our EPB fiber-optics project in several different ways, from internal and beta testing to working with individual communities on franchise agreements,” said Greg Eaves, EPB’s senior vice president of finance and CFO.
Mr. Eaves said that EPB is now testing internally and in the homes of some employees who have agreed to be beta testers. In May, EPB intends to expand the testing to volunteer customer testers in specific areas throughout Chattanooga.
