Former Vol Cameron Mayo arrested on sexual assault charges

A former University of Tennessee offensive lineman was released from the Whitfield County Jail on a $5,000 bond Saturday for a sexual assualt charge, according to a jail officer.

Dalton Police arrested Cameron Mayo, 23, on Friday.

Mr. Mayo, a former University of Tennessee offensive lineman, was working at Dalton High School as a substitute teacher at the time of the charge.

Mr. Mayo committed to UT in 2004, while a student at Dalton High School.

After multiple knee injuries and surgeries ended Mr. Mayo's career as a football player, he worked briefly as a coach for UT.

His father, Bill Mayo, was a starter on UT's offensive line in the early 1980s.
