Tennessee coach has new son; his name is Knox

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin has a new son.

Kiffin’s wife, Layla, gave birth Tuesday night to Monte Knox Kiffin. The news was announced at the Kentucky-Tennessee basketball game.

Tennessee Athletics spokeswoman Tiffany Carpenter told WVLT-TV that the baby was born at a California hospital. He’s 21 inches long and weighs 8 pounds, 8 ounces.

Carpenter says he’ll go by “Knox,” a reference to Knoxville. He also has the name of his grandfather, Monte Kiffin, who is the Vols’ defensive coordinator.

The Kiffins have two daughters, Landry and Presley.
